Sherry Serafini Weekend - Nov. 10-12
Unusual objects and shapes become part of a new story as Sherry stitches beads and gemstones, one at a time, to a felt like base. Most pieces are born spontaneously as the beads and Sherry’s imagination dictate the design. She seldom works from sketches. Sherry finds this meditative form of art to be a rich counterpoint to a society full of instant gratification. Some pieces take a year to complete.
Each piece is unique.
Sherry was voted one of the top 10 instructors in the United States by Bead & Button magazine. She lectures and teaches throughout the world. She has been published and has written articles for several well-known magazines. Her work has been featured on the covers of trade magazines and catalogs and is the co-author of the Art of Bead Embroidery with artist & friend Heidi Kummli and Sensational Bead Embroidery by Sherry Serafini. Sherry’s beaded art is known internationally and has been worn by Grammy winner Melissa Etheridge, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz, pro golfer Michelle Wie and singer Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas.
Friday, November 10 - Mystic Cuff
Utilize triangle beads, duos, pips and more to create a funky little cuff with bead embroidery. The unusual elements will include a piece of wire mesh that will be formed to a piece of suede and then a beautiful one of a kind glass focal will be enhanced in a new way and added to the wire mesh as a separate component so students can play with their own personal choice of placement. Cuff is also customized to fit each individual.
Saturday, November 11 - Queen of the Nile Neckpiece
Create a beautiful collar with silky beads, cabochons, wooden rings and bead caps. Bead embroidery is the focus utilizing components.
Sunday, November 12 - Zen Pendant
Discover your inner piece while weaving this wonderful pendant. Embroider around a hand carved face cabochon and then enhance with batik fabric, silky beads, metal and cabochons. A leather cord is used as the neckband but could easily be changed to beads if desired.
And there’s more to come . . .
